On this day, Ms. Maggie told as that as much as possible we must finished the final copy of the personalized letters we encoded using “mail merge” for we still have to encode many letters of invitation for the added guests in the guest’s list of the Go! Education Exhibit Tour for it to be sent as soon as possible in order to inform the invited guests.

     Just like what I did yesterday, my tasks were all the same as for today. I encoded the information needed in order for me to make a personalized letter for the guests which will be seen in the guest list since Ms. Maggie added and changed some of the guests listed in the guest list yesterday. I was also asked by Sir Erns to make follow-ups in the Accounting and Cash Division.

     This day, was really an office working day for me. Why? because I did many things today which made my day fulfilling. :) I did some follow-ups so I was asked to go in the Property, Budget, Cash and Accounting Division. It was okay for me since I am the kind of person that does not want to be in a place where I would spent the rest of my day in that place. I did some compilations of the documents too in order to help Sir Erns in his work loads.

     Also, Issa and I had coordinated with other DepEd staffs and guest in the conducted event of the department that started today regarding the Effective Communication Course for Regional Information officers and will last for a week.

     Then after that, we did some encoding. We encoded the names of the guests invited in the DepEd’s guest list for their Go! Education Exhibit Tour which is the finale event of the Go! Education Campaign. There were a lot of guests being invited, about 300-500 guests… and our tasked was to make a personalized letter for every guest. In order for us to make our work easier and a little faster, we divided the tasks equally and then, Ms. Maggie… the senior writer in the office taught us how to use the “mail merge” which made our task a bit faster. :)

     I came home late because we got out in the office by 7:42pm since we had an overtime in order to finish the letters that will be sent to the guest.

     Since the first batch of the birdies were already delivered. We do not really have something to do aside from searching and encoding the names and office address of the additional birdies that we’ll be making soon. Aside from that, I was only asked to photocopy some documents. Because it was a boring day for us since we have nothing to do… Issa decided to read her newspapers and I decided to watch the DZMM’s Teleradyo for the monitoring of news.

     Again, I came late at the office… I was late for about 30 minutes because of a usual reason—heavy traffic along EDSA. When I came in the office, I just put my things in the table and then, I was asked to do some simple tasks like printing memo’s and then photocopied it into many copies in order for Sir Erns to distribute it. I did pile some documents too.

     And then, after we had our lunch… Issa and I were told that finally! the birds will be delivered today. Sir Erns added that we better go with Manong driver and Kuya Rick—the blue boy in the OSEC upon delivering the gifts—birds in order for it to be delivered/distributed properly according to its building as we send it in the Records office of the Congress.

     And as we headed back to the office, I mean, to the DepEd’s main office in Pasig… we, Issa and I, accidentally fell asleep because of the dizziness we felt during our long trip and of the heavy traffic.

     Really tired… hehe! :D

     I was asked to make a basic research regarding with the respective names and embassy address of every ambassadors of other countries here in the Philippines that sent some gifts and greeting cards to our dear DepEd Secretary in order for him to thank them by giving them back a gift which is the “birdie ulok”.

     After that task, we were asked to go in the Amphitheater again for an inventory but this time, we did an inventory for the school supplies that were donated also for the victims of the typhoon Pablo in the Mindanao area. Like what we did yesterday, we sorted out the school supplies according to their kind for us to quantify and make a record of it as we put it in their respective boxes.

    And that’s it… it was a tiring day for us again.

     I’ve been late for 30 minutes because of the heavy traffic that I encountered along EDSA… that was also the reason why I expected that Issa would come a little earlier in the office. As I came in the office, I’ve seen that Issa was already making a list of the names and locations of the birds that will be deliver soon for the receiving copy. Since, there were no task for me to do yet, I did help Issa in making the list for her to finish it quickly.

     And then after that, Mr. Ernie Talaro… I mean, Sir Erns. hehe! :D asked us to call the regional directors or respective officers of the DepEd to ask for their contact information because they were not able to put it in the forms that they’ve passed which will be use for the program of the DepEd that was memo entitled “Effective Communication Course of the Regional Officers” that will be conducted.

     After that, we had another task to do in which we have to make an inventory of the relief goods placed in the Amphitheater of the DepEd that was donated for the victims of typhoon Pablo in Mindanao area. As we reach the place where the relief goods were placed we didn’t expect that we’ll be doing a task that will test our endurance. I mean, that we will be really sorting out the relief goods for us to quantify it according to its kind and in order for us to do that, we had to go up and down as well as left and right on each “step” of the stair-like seats in the Amphitheater knowing that Issa was in her formal dress attire and I was wearing a blouse that has a… sort of plunging neckline.

     It was a very tiring task for us but we were given a reward for accomplishing our task… and it was a free snack again. :) And after quantifying all the relief goods, we put it in each box and we labeled it according to the goods that were put there and specified all the goods included in each box for the records.

     And this was a very tiring day for us! weew.. :)

      We’ve been busy on this day since we are tasked to arrange the birds of the congressmen by their corresponding office floors and buildings in the House of Representatives in order for it to be properly delivered. It is not an easy task, believe me… for we must checked it every birdie gift with their respective place before we put it in the box which we labeled by floors.

     But we’re really lucky today even if we had a lot of things to do because we got a treat from them! :) A very treaty treat for the reason that our boss, Director Tina asked an office staff to buy us some food for our lunch which made us (Issa and I) happy for we had saved some money today and we’re surprised that she does not only treated our food for lunch but as well as for our snacks for merienda. Oh, this day was so good! haha. :D Director Tina and the other office staffs in the Communications Unit were really kind to us. :)

     After our short Christmas break, we have to come back in DepEd for the continuation of our internship program even if I, personally don’t want to go back yet because I still want to spend my day in shopping and or travelling. hehe! :D

   As we go back to DepEd, it is not surprising that the birds are still there for the reason that it was not yet finished and since the Christmas day had already passed… Bro. Armin decided that it will served as a new year present.

  For us to know the specific address of where the birds will be delivered and for whom it was, we are tasked to do a basic researching… yes! a very basic one because we just have to know the full name of the person, his/her current job position, his/her office address or home. Funny may it seem but for me, what we did is somewhat fulfilling than on the past days we did. :)

     Even if we’re not able to come in DepEd for our internship in a week because our group have been very busy in finalizing our thesis manuscript and had our defense on December 19, we still found ourselves doing what we’ve left for a week—our birdie tasks.

     Today, was still about the continuation of our birdie tasks. Everything was almost the same with what happened yesterday aside from my tasks and Issa’s tasks were somewhat switched. She was the one assigned in the encoding part of the names to whom the gift would be given and I was the one assigned in the arranging of the tags, poems and bird info. for it to be finalized by Issa and I after the output was printed out and cut.

     And that’s it! A birdie task for me and Issa for a whole day… Well, I just hope that after this, we could really learn something important and relevant in our course.
